Practice Theory Podcast: #1 Matt Watson on Power

We’ve started a new initiative as part of Practice Theory at Lancaster – podcasting! The idea is to use the format to talk to authors about something they’ve written to explore and extend underdeveloped issues and topics in practice theory.

For the first episode, Elizabeth Shove and I talked to Matt Watson about his chapter in The Nexus of Practices on ‘Placing Power in Practice Theory‘.

We talked to Matt about why its sometimes thought that practice theory can’t ‘handle power’; what other compatible ideas are required to conceptualise power in practice theory, and about the role particular kinds of practices can take in orchestrating institutional organisations of practices.

We are hoping to make these a regular output, and have planned the next one for April! You can follow the Practice Theory Podcast Twitter account for regular updates.
